So why do politicians even make promises, when even THEY can't keep them. Is it so that there chances of getting elected can increase? Or is it because they really think they can do it, but they dont understand how hard it can actually be? Don't you think that someone making a promise should know 100 percent that they can uphold to that promise? Just like any other person. In my opinion, you shouldn't make promises that you dont know you can keep or not, no matter who you are! I think that you should just not make any promises, or hint that you will TRY your hardest to do it, and then in the end SURPRISE them by doing something everyone wished for, in the end! That would be a happy ending, instead of encountering disappointment from a broken promise.

This is an interesting topic, and you asked some good questions about why politicians don't keep their promises. I think it's a combination of all the questions you asked. But, it might be interesting to see what becomes of Obama's promises over the next two years. He's still only half way through the term and has made significant changes, especially to health care, even with Republicans fighting him every step of the way. He's certainl been ambitious, even if he hasn't gotten everything accomplished that he wants to. Maybe he's just setting his goals as high as possible and even if he doesn't attain all of them, he's still accomplished quite a bit. Time will tell.
ReplyDeleteYes, time will tell. And yes, maybe he is setting his goals as high as possible, which isnt a bad thing because it shows ambition, but also he must remember that America is hoping for change, and if it doesn't happen the there might not be a good end result. And hopefully everything holds up okay! I like how you added that the Republicans have been fighting him, and its hard when you have so many people against you, but yet you still end up accomplishing something.
ReplyDeleteIm definatly not a bleeding heart liberal and one promise Im glad he hasnt been able to keep is the closure of Guantanmo. We hold terrorists there, and the liberals want us to release them stating we are violating their rights. If your a terrorist you have no rights. If your a bleeding heart liberal then take the terrorist into your homes and see how that all turns out.
